DR. BLAIR SNIVELY

Dr. Blair Snively grew up in Northern Montgomery County Maryland and is a life-long horseman. She was active in the Spur and Stirrup 4-H club for many years and showed extensively on the local hunter show circuits. Dr. Snively was often found, even as young as age four, playing “vet” with her ponies. Dr. Snively discovered mounted fox chasing in high school, while working for renowned local veterinarian, Dr. Roger Scullin. She has hunted as a regular member with the Howard County Iron-Bridge Hounds and the Goshen Hounds in Maryland, and the Hardaway-Withworth Hounds in Mississippi. During college, she competed on multiple Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) equestrian teams. As an alum, she also coached the University of Maryland IHSA Equestrian Team from 2008-2010.

Dr. Snively earned two undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science and Technology with an emphasis in pasture and crop management in 2008 from The University of Maryland, College Park, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Hartwick College in 2012. Dr. Snively then attended Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with her DVM in 2016. During veterinary school, she was an active member of the Student Chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), Treasurer of the Society for Theriogenology (reproduction), Secretary and Business Certification Program Officer of the Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA), and the Morris Animal Foundation Student Volunteer. Dr. Snively has a particular interest in clinical research and won numerous awards with a self-designed study regarding the thermal safety of protective sports boots on the equine lower limb.

Motivated by the need to address ailments and lameness that western medicine has been unable to resolve, and alternative modalities as preventative medicine, Dr. Snively began acupuncture and basic herbology training at the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida in 2015. She hopes to further expand the practice with certifications in spinal manipulation (chiropractics), herbology, and food therapy in the future. Dr. Snively is also a small animal general practitioner and offers acupuncture to small animals at Country Veterinary Hospital in Mount Airy, MD.

In her spare time, Dr. Snively is an avid writer and singer. She enjoys working on her farm with her husband, Bryan Snively, and their four horses, three rescue dogs, a cat, and a handful of chickens.
